Peter Jöback recently finished his amazing and successful sejour at the Stockholm City Theatre where he played the title role in a completely sold-out and acclaimed "Sweeney Todd." Nearly 70,000 people have seen the show. Add this to the 35,000 who saw Peter in 7 arena concerts with "I Love Musicals" and he passes an attendance of 100,000 in six months... In 2012 and 2013 Peter success in the role of "The Phantom of the Opera" in London's West End and on Broadway in New York. Where he appeared as the first Swedish artist at the prestigious Tony Awards in June 2013.
2014 got a brilliant start when Peter was awarded a prize as Artist of the Year at QX gala at Cirkus in Stockholm. Voted by the readers became Peter in fierce competition with Icona Pop and Agnes named Artist of the Year.
On May 21, Peter Jöback made debut in Japan. When he visited the annual concert "Musical Meets Symphony" at Tokyo International Forum Hall. Together with some Japanese soloist stars and Peters friend and Phantom-colleague, Ramin Karimloo gave two sold out concerts with the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra. Peters album "I Love Musicals " is published by Sony Japan there and it made its debut in 7th place on the Japanese list.
“I Love Musicals” album was released in Scandinavia, Peter perform songs from a number of world famous musicals such as The Phantom of the Opera, Cabarét, Jesus Christ Superstar, Chess, Kristina From Duvemåla, Miss Saigon, Sweeney Todd and more. The album featured by soloists Ma -Anne Dionisio and Katy Treharne, two of the musical world's great international names, supported by a sinfonietta of 38 great musicians. Under the direction of maestro David White created this exclusive tribute to the musical genre in a studio at Skeppsholmen in Stockholm. On July 14, Peter goes to Norway to guest in a final concert during the Tall Ships Race to Fredrikstad. Even Heidi Gjermundsen Broch involved and on stage, they are both backed by a large symphony orchestra. The whole evening ends with the traditional fireworks. On 11 September 2014 the newly written musical “Livet är en Schlager " premiere at Cirkus in Stockholm where Peter Jöback plays the role of the transsexual Candy Darling. Candy is the brother of Mona in the musical played by Helen Sjöholm. Jonas Gardell stands for the script and lyrics and Fredrik Kempe for the music. Peters song "Otherwise Would I Not I " is taken from the musical and is on the album "I Love Musicals "
